Laurence has twenty five years’ experience acting for clients in the UK and international film industry.

He read History and German at St. John’s College, Oxford and after qualifying as a solicitor, he spent twelve years in the Media Group of City law firm Reed Smith LLP before becoming a Partner in the Media Group of Davenport Lyons from 2000 until 2008.

Since 2008 he has his own law firm, Laurence Brown Solicitor, based in Notting Hill, London, specialising in advising on the development, financing, production and distribution of films and related copyright matters.

Among the recent films on which he has provided the legal representation is ‘71 produced by Warp Films which has been nominated for the 2015 BAFTA Awards for Outstanding British film and for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.

Separately Laurence is individual producer of 4DH Films’ Brit List film Valerio alongside Danny Hansford (Bronson, starring Tom Hardy).

He is Executive Producer of both Nativity 2 (2012) and Nativity 3 (2014) directed by Debbie Isitt and distributed by leading international distributor, Entertainment One. All three of the Nativity films have been in the top 10 UK films at the UK box office, making the Nativity franchise one of the most successful in the current UK film industry.

Laurence was a member of the Executive Committee of the film-makers’ organisation The New Producers Alliance for ten years. He is a film-voting member of BAFTA and a worldwide member of Soho House, the leading international club for the film and creative businesses.

He attends the Berlin and Cannes Festivals/Markets and travels on business to L.A.
